In recent years, schools and educationalists have shown an increasing awareness of the function of educational media in the classroom. While much educational media is concerned with presenting or displaying information as an aid to learning, there has also been an increasing awareness that film (or television) production can play a useful part in a school curriculum. (See, for example, Screen Education (1963). A wealth of instructional texts on film use abounds, but almost all of it is concerned with prescribing appropriate methods for 'handling the hardware' in order to utilise a group of novices in producing a film. (Lownds, 1968; Roberts & Sharples, 1971 etc).[FROM INTRODUCTION]en_US
